Apple to partially discontinue Services on Older Softwares

New Delhi (India), 9th April 2023: Beginning in early May, the US-based tech giant Apple is apparently going to stop allowing users of older iOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS-running devices to access its online services. Except for iCloud, the change will impact devices running iOS 11–11.2.6, macOS 10.13–10.13.3, watchOS 4–4.2.3, and tvOS 11–11.2.6.

Users of these older software versions may get a push notification from Apple asking them to update their devices to a newer software version, according to a MacRumors report. However, the business did not explain why its services would no longer function with these outdated software versions.

Apple stopped signing iOS 16.3.1 after the introduction of iOS 16.4.1, making it impossible for iPhone customers to downgrade to that software version.

The minor update iOS 16.3.1, which included improved Crash Detection optimisations for iPhone 14 devices and bug fixes, was released on February 13. For the purpose of preventing consumers from upgrading to an out-of-date software version, Apple frequently ceases signing older iOS releases over time.

Recently, the company unveiled iOS 16.4, a new update that adds new features like new emojis, web push notifications, and voice isolation for mobile calls. Users should navigate to Settings, General, and then Software upgrade to upgrade their devices to the most recent version.
