Greater Noida (5th April 2025): The Adani Invitational Golf Championship 2025, held at the prestigious Jaypee Greens Golf & Spa Resort from April 1–4, concluded with an outstanding display of skill and determination by Arjun Prasad, who finished as the 1st runner-up in the competition. The tournament, featuring a substantial ₹1.5 crore prize pool, attracted a stellar lineup of international golfers, offering a glimpse into the future of the sport in India.
Arjun Prasad, who turned professional at just 17 and became the youngest Indian to earn a full Asian Tour card for the 2017 season, demonstrated his exceptional golfing abilities at the Championship. The event saw him shoot a solid 70 in his final round, comprising five birdies and three bogeys. Despite a valiant effort, including a late chance to force a playoff, Prasad fell just short of securing the title. His performance was one of the highlights of the event, underscoring his rising stature in Indian golf.
Speaking with Ten News Network about his runner-up finish, Arjun Prasad expressed his satisfaction with the performance, despite not taking the top spot. It felt great to be here at Jaypee Greens, and the sponsors made a huge effort to make this tournament possible. The golf course was in fantastic condition, and I had a really good experience. Although I didn’t win, it was a fun outing, and I’m taking these moments with Jaypee greens ,he said during an exclusive interview with Ten News.
Reflecting on his golfing journey, Arjun shared that his passion for the sport began at the age of eight. My father was in the army, so we moved around a lot during my childhood. But golf has always been a constant for me, and I’ve been playing for almost 16 years now. My parents played a huge role in helping me pursue this sport, he explained.
Currently competing on the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), Prasad highlighted the growth of Indian golf and the importance of support from initiatives like the Adani Invitational. The collaboration between PGTI and Adani is a fantastic initiative, and I think it’s great for the sport. We need more people like Mr. Adani to come forward and support the game at the national level, he said.
As for his experience at Jaypee Greens, Prasad praised the course and the tournament’s return after several years. The course was in excellent condition. The last time I played here in a tournament was in 2016, and coming back this time was a pleasure. Big thanks to Dhruv Pal Singh sir for ensuring the course was in such great shape, he added.
When asked about his golfing inspirations, Prasad named two players who have had a significant influence on his career. Obviously, Tiger Woods is someone every golfer looks up to, but for me, Jeev Milkha Singh is a huge inspiration. He was one of the first Indian golfers to make a mark on the global stage, and he’s been a great mentor, Prasad noted.
In terms of technology, Prasad highlighted his excitement for new advancements in the game. Trackman and Flightscope are two technologies I find incredibly helpful. They’ve revolutionized the way we approach our game, helping us fine-tune our performance, he said, expressing his enthusiasm for the growing role of technology in modern golf.
On the topic of brands, Prasad shared his endorsement of Callaway, with whom he’s been associated for some time. I primarily use Callaway for my clubs, and I’m really happy with their products. They’ve been with me for a while, and I’m glad to have their support, he remarked.
Finally, reflecting on the role of social media in the sport, Arjun Prasad emphasized how it has changed the perception of golf. Social media has really brought golf to the public domain. It’s no longer just for the players—it shows how active and dynamic the sport is. It’s a big step forward for the game, he concluded.
The Adani Invitational Golf Championship 2025, organized by the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) and sponsored by the Adani Group, featured a highly competitive field. With a prize pool of ₹1.5 crore, the tournament attracted top golfers from around the world, offering them a platform to showcase their skills. It was an event that not only displayed the talent within the Indian golfing community but also highlighted the growing interest in the sport across the country.
As for Prasad, his performance at the event further solidified his place as one of India’s brightest young golfing talents, and his journey is one to watch closely as he continues to make strides on the international stage.
