Astauli landfill site MoU between Noida – Greater Noida dissolved, GRENO looks for decentralized garbage solutions

Learning lessons from hardships being face by Noida Authority in terms of Garbage disposal, Greater Noida Authority has already initiated process for its effective disposal.

Currently Greater Noida generates much less waste than Noida. As of now Greater Noida generates about 150 ton of solid waste everyday which is not feasibly sufficient as per waste to energy plant requirements.

Hence Greater Noida Authority is considering different methods in which waste can be taken care of in decentralised way. Authority has called for ‘Expression of Interest’ by interested vendors who for proposing different solutions. After this a feasible model will be selected and tenders will be invited for the same.

Speaking about the issue OSD Vibha Chahel said, “After Noida has starting creating land fill sites and different places the MoU between the two authorities for Astauli has been dissolved. As of now Greater Noida doesn’t produce enough waste to manage such site and Noida’s waste transportation to Astauli site may face logistic issue, hence it can be said that alternatives of Astauli are being considered now”.
