Gujarat, Dec 10, 2022: After Bharatiya Janata Party’s sweeping victory in the Gujarat Assembly elections, Bhupendra Patel has been chosen again as the Chief Minister of the state, and will be taking the oath on Monday. The newly-elected BJP MLAs arrived at Gandhinagar party office on Sunday for a meeting wherein former Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was also present.
This comes after Patel, along with his entire cabinet, submitted their resignation on Friday to ensure the formation of a new government in the state by the BJP after it’s sweeping victory.
Patel will be sworn in as the CM on December 12, and the oath-taking ceremony will take place at 2 pm on Monday in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The BJP clinched a historic victory in Gujarat by claiming 156 seats in the 182-member House on Thursday, much higher than its tally of 99 seats in 2017.
Gujarat BJP chief C R Paatil had earlier noted that Bhupendra Patel would continue to serve as the chief minister and the swearing-in ceremony of the new government will take place on Monday at the Helipad Ground in Gandhinagar.
