New Delhi, 19th June 2023: The authorities at the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) confirmed that the remnants of the cyclonic storm Biparjoy have now created a depression over central parts of East Rajasthan and is likely to move nearly east-northeastwards in the next 12 hours.
Heavy rains lashed parts of Rajasthan’s Barmer district under cyclonic storm Biparjoy. Severe waterlogging and a flood-like situation have also been reported in multiple places.
The authorities added that as the cyclone has now weakened into a deep depression and is moving in the East-North East direction, heavy rainfall is likely at one or two places over South Rajasthan and adjoining areas of North Gujarat.
This comes as the cyclone reduced in its intensity and weakened its stance over the Southeast Pakistan adjoining Southwest Rajasthan and Kutch region following its landfall in Gujarat.
The authorities predict that the cyclone would weaken into a ‘depression’ in the next 12 hours.
