Bollywood Actor Urmila Matondkar joins Congress, says, “My family followed the ideology of Nehru

New Delhi: On March 27, actress Urmila Matondkar joined Congress after meeting party’s cheif Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi.



Party’s spokesperson Randeep Surjewala and Priyanka Chaturvedi welcomed the actress into the grand old party.

Addressing the press conference, Matondkar said, “This is the most important day in my life as I am going to take my first into active politics, I belongs to the family in which the ideologies of Mahatma Gandhi Jawahar Lal Nehru is followed.”

Commenting on the involvement of celebrities into active politics, the 45-year-old actress said that people think that these days political parties includes celebrities into active politics as they have a huge fan base but it’s not like that for me.

“I am here to stay in the Congress Party as I believe in the ideology of Congress Party and I believe what it stands for. I have never done anything half-heartedly in my life”, she added.

The newly joined actress may contest as a Lok Sabha candidate from North Mumbai seat on Congress ticket against the sitting North-Mumbai BJP MP Kirit Somaiya, who might be announced BJP’S candidate for upcoming elections.

Apart from that, BJP Rebel MP shatrughan Sinha will be joining Congress on March 28, and the party may field him from Patna Sahib LS seat against Ravi Shankar Prasad.
