New Delhi: Prominent Ambedkarite party and ally of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Republican Party of India (RPI) observed its National Convention in Delhi today.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment and president of the Republican Party of India Ramdas Athawale and other party members took part in the National Convention at Talkatora Stadium.
During the event Ramdas Athawale was unanimously elected the president of RPI.
Republican Party of India is a prominent Dalit party and follows the footsteps of BR Ambedkarite. Score of party members from different parts of the country have participated in the event.
While speaking at the event, Home Minister Rajnath Singh said, “Those who claimed that the BJP is against the ideology of BR Ambedkar are wrong. The NDA government has been continuing to make the BR Ambekdar a national figure.”
Moreover, he also refuted that NDA want to amend the constitution. “After taking oath as a Prime Minister of India, first thing Narendra Modi said that the constitution is like Gita for me those who have been claiming that BJP wanted to change the Constitution are misleading one and all.”
Later president of the DPI Ramdas Athawale said that backward class is still suffering and our concern is to protect them and provide fearless environment for them.
Moreover, he also backed to economical based reservation. “I thing NDA government should pass a resolution to give 25 % reservation to upper class from total 50% reservation quota on the basis of economical background.”
