#BSP leader murder: UP CM #YogiAdityanath directs police to look into the matter, says law and order top priority

Lucknow, March 20: Newly-appointed Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took stock of the law and order situation in the state and directed the police to look into the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mohd Shami on Monday. BSP leader Mohd Shami was shot dead by bike-borne assailants on Sunday night in Allahabad.

Yogi Adityanath, the new chief minister of UP, asked the Director General of Police (DGP) to look into the matter and directed him to not to be lenient on the law and order situation as it is the top priority for the 21st CM of UP. DG of police will meet District Magistrates (DMs) and police officials over video conference and will discuss the law and order situation.

FIR has been registered, and 5 teams have been formed to arrest the accused, UP ADG (Law&Order) Daljeet Chowdhary told ANI.

The BJP had earlier, during their election campaign in UP, criticised the previous Akhilesh Yadav government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state and had cited examples of Bulandshahr rape case, Kairana incident etc. The BJP had promised to eradicate ‘goondaraj’ in UP and this found the top spot in their manifesto too.
