Noida, 16th September, 2022: For the past four days, at least 100 residents in a high-rise building in Noida have been living without any power supply.
The Hilston Urbtech Society in Noida’s Sector 79 lost power on Tuesday, leaving residents in dark and stuck on top floors even without functional elevators.
Left with no option, residents were somehow able to use the society’s generator until 2 a.m. on Thursday, but no permanent solution has been found. Many people are frustrated and have turned to Twitter for support.
“Our society, which is otherwise a high-tech model metropolis, has been without power for the past four days. Because the lifts are disabled, we have to take the stairs several stories down and up and this is impacting everyone, Children are unable to study,” one resident said.
A group of locals also visited the district magistrate’s office but were unable to meet with the official. According to the source, a representative of the builder told locals that a request to extend the temporary connection supply for six months was denied by authorities.
A resident Gaurav Singh claimed that, “When we were allocated our apartments, we were informed that the developer would get a permanent connection in six months.” However, the builder persisted with the temporary connection without our knowledge. “After the electricity went out, we went to the power department’s office, but they informed us that they can’t help in this situation,” Gaurav Singh, a resident stated.
“Two weeks ago, a power department team decided to stop the supply. They offered the builder some time more, but he absolutely did nothing,” Singh explained.
