Once again it has been proved that by hard work, dedication and sincerity any hurdle can be easily crossed. This has been proved by a sugarcane farmer’s 22 year old son Nishant Chaudhary who secured 98.7 percentile in CAT 2016. The results of CAT 2016 were announced by IIM Bangalore. Nishant completed his schooling from Swami Vivekananda Public School in Madhi village and completed his BTech from UP Textiles Technology Institute in Kanpur in 2016.
He is a resident of Madhi village which is about 30 km from Meerut. Speaking to leading newspaper about his struggles Nishant Chaudhary stated that he had to travel 30km every day to reach the coaching institute in the city to prepare for CAT exams. To reach the coaching centre, he had to undergo a total journey of 60km. He also had to quit his job as a safety engineer at a textile mill for the preparations. He also stated that sometimes there was no electricity in the village. Some of the other students from Meerut who scored well in CAT exam included Shubham Tyagi with 98.48 percentile, Avichal Tyagi with 98.45 percentile and Arpit Jain with 97.57 percentile.
This year , the candidates were personally informed through text messages about the CAT 2016 results and their overall percentile. In a press release by IIM-Bangalore Professor Bandi stated “The untiring support of the CAT Committee, comprising admissions chairpersons of IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode and IIM Lucknow, and the tremendous hard work by the CAT 2016 Secretariat at IIM Bangalore played a big role in enabling us to declare the results on schedule”. This year there was also increase in the number of female applicants for the CAT 2016 exam. This year in the number of physical disability there was an increase to 938 from the last year 901 candidates.
