Closing Ceremony of Women’s Hockey League inaugurated on National Sports Day

New Delhi (03/09/2025): The closing ceremony of Women’s Hockey League 2025 was organized in District West as part of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative. The Cabinet Minister, Delhi Government, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. MLA, Hari Nagar, Shyam Sharma, also adorned the celebration. The event was also marked by noted presence of Rashmi Singh, Secretary, Women and Child Development Department and Karnail Singh, MLA, Shakur Basti and other senior officials from the Department of Education, Sports, Police and WCD. The League was inaugurated on National Sports Day (29.08.2025) by Member of Parliament, West Delhi, Kamaljeet Sehrawat, as part of Saansad Khel Mahotsava. 06 teams from all across Delhi participated in the League:

1. Ashok Nagar Hockey Centre
2. S.D. Girls Sr. Sec. School, East Patel Nagar
3. Ghumman Hera Hockey Centre
4. Jhilmil Hockey Centre
5. Co-ed Sr. Sec. School Pochanpur, Dwarka Sector- 23
6. Khera Kalan Hockey Centre

The teams were divided in two pools and league matches were conducted amongst the pools. 06 matches were conducted. Final match was conducted on 01-09-2025 between the teams of Ashok Nagar Hockey Centre and Ghumman Hera Hockey Centre, in which Ashok Nagar Hockey Centre has emerged as winner.

Chief Guest addressed the young participants with his inspirational words and gave away the prizes and medals to the Winners and Runners up teams, players of the matches and the series and certificate of participation and consolation prizes to all participants.

The event is aimed at fostering a spirit of sportsmanship, dedication, and excellence among the youth and supporting the young girls under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Initiative.
