CM Arvind wakes up only when power plants face coal shortage and the Capital faces an imminent power cut when temperatures hit record high—Ch. Anil Kumar
NEW DELHI, April 30, 2022—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ch. Anil Kumar said that it was strange that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind woke up about a power crisis in Delhi only when coal stokes in the power plants supplying electricity to Delhi was reduced to less than three days, with the Capital facing an imminent power cut, with a record heat-wave of 47 degrees sweeping the Capital.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that when a crisis of such a magnitude is staring at the Capital, CM Arvind was indulging in blame-games with the Central Government, though he should have ensured that the power plants that meet Delhi’s power needs have stokes for 17-26 days at the least, instead of stirring up at the last moment, as he had done during the Covid-19 pandemic surge.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that it was shocking that CM Arvind did not care about replenishing the coal stokes in the power plants earlier, and he wails now when coal stokes are at the bottom, which was very strange. He wondered where was CM Arvind all these days that he was not aware of the dwindling coal stokes in the power plants ?
Ch. Anil Kumar said that Arvind should devote more time to Delhi, instead of meddling in the affairs of Punjab to remote-control governance there, and then go on a political tour to Himachal Pradesh, as he seems to have taken the people of Delhi for granted by misusing the tax payers’ money for his personal gains.
RECORD HEAT AND SURGING COVID-19 CASES POSE GRAVE THREAT TO THE HEALTH OF SCHOOL CHILDREN, PARTICULARLY THOSE IN THE PRIMARY CLASSES—Ch. ANIL KUMAR
Ch. Anil Kumar said that a record heat wave and surging Covid-19 cases pose a grave threat to the health of children, particularly kids in the primary classes, and the Government should give a break to physical classes till the heat wave subsides, and Corona cases dip. He said that the Delhi Government was hiding the actual Covid-19 cases in Delhi to save its face, and most of the Government schools do not have even enough fans to give some relief to the kids, who face tremendous difficulty in attending physical classes in this searing heat.
Ch. Anil Kumar said that the Delhi Government is not taking strong steps to intensify the Covid-19 vaccination drive among children, as the fast surge of Covid-19 cases threatens the lives of children. He said that CM Arvind and his Ministers were moving in AC cars and working from AC offices, while the students and teachers have to bear brunt of the heat wave and surging Covid-19 infections.
