Gurgaon: Digital, the all-pervasive word in an era defined by the smartphone, has taken on a whole new meaning, thanks to the Haryana chief minister.Breaking it down into two Hindi words to link it with his pet theme, an exercise that must have required careful study of the word, the CM said ‘Digital’ could be interpreted as the Gita in one’s heart— GITA (Bhagvad Gita) within DIL (heart), if you split the word into DI-GITA-L.The unusual semantic analysis came at the Happening Haryana investor summit, which was held in Gurgaon on March 7 and 8. Khattar’s government, which organised the event that was attended by leading Indian and foreign entrepreneurs, senior Union ministers and ambassadors and high commissioners of several countries, also put a miniature Bhagvad Gita in the kit given to every delegate and media correspondent attending the meet.Khattar, a former Sangh pracharak, explained his ‘digital’ philosophy to delegates during his speech at the summit. “We want our youth to go digital.

(DI-GITA-L) not only in the way this word is normally understood, but also as G-I-T-A within D-I-L,” the CM said before citing the Mahabharata to explain the success of Gurgaon-based startups.”Over 5,000 years ago, this village (Gurgaon) took its name from Guru Dronacharya, the great master of archery. He was the revered teacher of both Pandavas and Kauravas, who fought in the famous battle of the Mahabharata in which the latter’s army led by Guru Dronacharya was defeated by his own best disciple, Arjuna. It, therefore, never surprises me when a Gurgaon-based startup beats big international companies.
