New Delhi (01/11/2019): Today at Jantar Mantar, people from Codava Tribe highlighted all their legitimate principal demands that include Codava Land Geo – Political Autonomy & ST tag for Indigenous Codava Tribe, a Memorandum was submitted to the Union Government of India for same.

It is a known fact that the merger of Codava traditional homeland that is erstwhile
Part ‘C’ State of Coorg under the guise of State Organization act 1956(1 Nov 1956) with Vishal
Mysore later Karnataka has showcased Codava phobic/Xenophobic attitude which turned out to
be a forced exodus of Codava tribe from their home land.

The State sponsored homogenization has resulted in Culture of Codava tribe and their folkloric civilization and the Government has instigated acculturation of Codava tribe by others.

It amounts to a clear violation of human rights as enshrined in our most revered Constitution and
also in International human rights covenants & declarations.

Unfortunately the merger of Coorg became a death blow to Codava tribe.

CNC Codava National Council has conducted a peaceful Satyagraha on 1st Nov 2019 at
Jantar Mantar Parliament Street New Delhi to highlight our paramount demand for Codava Quest
for Geo Political Autonomy and to express our opposition to celebrations of Karnataka
Rajyotsava Day / i.e State Re-organization Day (as Anti Incursion Day). Since on that day our
homeland Coorg, the then Part “C” State of India became part and parcel of Mysore State now
Karnataka under State reorganisation Act 1956.
