New Delhi (India), April 5, 2023: Congress MP Randeep Surjewala has accused the central government of dispatching central agencies to conduct raids against Congress leaders and candidates listed for the Karnataka Assembly polls.

Surjewala claimed that the BJP was failing to select its own candidates and facing a “mass exodus” in the poll-bound state.

He alleged that Prime Minister Modi had decided to use the “final arsenal” in his armory by sending hundreds of Income Tax (I-T) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) officers to Karnataka to conduct raids across the state on Congress leaders and candidates.

Surjewala stressed that the Congress party will not be deterred and will fight the elections with full force, aiming to surpass the 150-plus mark in the Karnataka Assembly elections. He also called upon the bureaucrats and officers of the I-T and ED, who are being misused for raids, to be held accountable for their wrongdoings on behalf of the BJP government.

The leader of the opposition in the Karnataka Assembly, Siddaramaiah, echoed Surjewala’s sentiments, stating that there is a wave in favor of Congress in Karnataka and the party will come to power with a comfortable majority. He further added that the BJP’s hate politics and Hindutva agenda were not working in the upcoming Karnataka elections.

Karnataka is set to go to assembly polls on May 10, and the votes will be counted on May 13. The Congress has accused the BJP of resorting to desperate tactics ahead of the elections, while the BJP has not responded to these allegations as of yet.
