Bengaluru, 13th May 2023: Indian National Congress has emerged victorious in the Karnataka Assembly elections. The party is leading the race with over 114 seats, the ruling BJP is leading on 70-plus seats, and HD Kumaraswamy’s JD(S) is ahead in over 25 seats.
Even though senior Congress official Siddaramaiah said he is sure of the party crossing the 120 mark, reports suggest the party is trying to reach out to other parties ‘because it does not have confidence in its legislators.’
The counting is being held at 36 centres across the state, with the fate of 2,615 candidates hanging on these results. With over 224 assembly seats to win in the state, parties aim to cross that 113 mark.
Congress has also asked all the party MLAs to reach Bengaluru after the initial leads place it ahead of everyone in the race.
