New Delhi, 1 November 2022: Recently, the jailed conman, Sukesh Chandrashekhar in a letter to Delhi LG Saxena claimed that he had paid Rs 10 crores to AAP leader, Satyendar Jain as “protection money” and now the minister is “threatening and harassing” him.
In the letter, Chandrashekhar asserted that he had known the AAP chief since 2015.
He said that 50 crore rupees were given to the AAP in exchange for a key party position in the south zone.
He also said that he told a CBI team about the payments paid to Jain, the AAP, and D-G Prisons last month and that he had petitioned the Delhi High Court to request a CBI investigation. He further alleged that Jain has been threatening him to drop the case against him.
However, Arvind Kejriwal, dismissed the claims, stating that the central government has to rely on a money launderer and a fraud, further demeaning the party’s situation in Gujarat.
While the BJP has reiterated the accusations Delhi government and AAP party of being most corrupt.
Although it has been further discovered over the course of the investigation that senior jail officials had also accepted bribe/protection money from Sukesh, these facts—related to bribe/protection money paid to Jain—are entirely new.
The ED is investigating the claims thoroughly and has taken them extremely seriously. Sukesh Chandrashekhar would be questioned by the ED soon over this, according to the ED officials.
“After my arrest in 2017 for the two leaf symbol corruption case, I was lodged in Tihar Jail and was visited by Mr. Satyendar Jain, who holds the Portfolio of Jail min, multiple times, asking me if I had disclosed anything related to my contribution to AAP to the investigating agency which arrested me. Thereafter in 2019 again I was visited by Satyender Jain and his Secretary and his close friend Mr. Sushil in Jail, and asking me to pay Rs. 2 Crores every month to him as protection money to live safely in Jail, and to get even basic facility provided,” the letter stated.
