New Delhi, 09th July 2023: Digvijaya Singh, a senior Congress politician and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, wished PM Modi and Amit Shah good sense amid a dispute over his inflammatory tweet against former RSS president MS Golawalkar on Sunday. The Indore Police have opened an investigation over Digvijaya Singh’s tweet, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has accused him of “spreading misinformation” and inciting social hate towards Golwalker.
In Digvijaya Singh’s controversial article, Golwalkar was quoted as saying he would prefer live under British control than have equal rights granted to Dalits, Muslims, and the poor. RSS officials complained to authorities about the article, claiming that Golwalkar ‘Guruji’ never said those things.
As the controversy broke out, Digvijaya Singh put out another tweet addressing PM Modi and Amit Shah and added that they are making a mistake in choosing the people supporting them. He claimed that his supporters would ‘leave the first moment they lose power.’
While Digvijaya Singh has been accused of using a manipulated photograph to attribute a bogus statement to Golwalkar, a state Congress official claims Digvijaya Singh shared a screenshot of a book. According to the complainant, Digvijaya Singh’s tweet was intended to incite violence among Dalits, backward castes, Muslims, and Hindus.
