NEW DELHI (01/01/2022): As promised by PM Narendra Modi in his Address on Christmas day, Registration on CoWIN portol for Covid-19 vaccination of Children in the age group of 15-18 years has been initiated from Saturday & the adminstration of vaccination in this age group will begin from January 3.
Ministry of Health on Twitter confirmed this tweeting, “Registration for COVID Vaccination for the age group of 15-18 years is live now on CoWIN.”
Children can register for the vaccine, online on the CoWin portal starting from today, January 1 or can also choose walk-in registrations by directly going to the vaccine centres.
Minister of Health, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya tweeted, “If the children are safe, then the future of the country is safe!”
“On the occasion of New Year, registration is being started on CoWIN portal for #COVID19 vaccination of children in the age group of 15 to 18 years from today. I request the family members to register the eligible children for vaccination. #SabkoVaccineMuftVaccine,” he tweeted.
Children can also register on the CoWIN platform using 10th standard ID card. Dr R S Sharma, Cowin platform chief had earlier said that besides Aadhaar and other national identity cards, children can use their class 10th ID card for registration.
The Union Health Secretary informed the States/UTs that only ‘Covaxin’ is to be administered in this population category.
Covaxin has received the necessary approval from the Drugs Controller General of India for emergency use for children aged between 12-18 years.
Meanwhile, starting January 10, health care workers (HCWs), frontline workers (FLWs), and those over 60 with co-morbidities will receive preventative (booster) dosages.
As of now, Vaccination Coverage has exceeded 145.16 Cr (1,45,16,24,150), with more than 58 Lakh doses administered in the last 24 hours.
