India (15/07/2022): The first edition of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG is taking place on Friday at test centres in over 510 cities in India and abroad.
The exam for the first slot began on Friday at 9 am. With 14.9 lakh registrations, the CUET, the common gateway for undergraduate admissions in all central universities, is now the second biggest entrance exam in the country, surpassing JEE-Main’s average registration of nine lakh.
Earlier in the day, UGC chairman M Jagdish Kumar spoke about the exam and cleared certain doubts about it. “I don’t think that the students who come from rural background are going to have disadvantage in the exam. Few representations have come saying that their centres for the two exams are in different cities. We are accepting such requests and are immediately resolving it.”
It has also been made clear that the reporting time and the gate closing time at the test centre are mentioned on the CUET admit card of the candidate. Once the gate is closed, candidates will not be allowed to enter the test venue.
