A day before ‘Ambedkar Jayanti’, statue vandalized at Bisrakh, Greater Noida, Police jumps into action

Tension prevailed in Rispal Gadhi village under Bisrakh police station after some unknown miscreants vandalised a statue of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar on Thursday night.

On Friday morning when local’s visited the park they found it vandalized and smeared with black paint. There after locals got furious over the incident and started protesting against the vandalism demanding arrest of culprits and strict action on them.

Kuldeep Singh, a local resident, said that the statue is located in the Ambedkar Park.
“The village is home to around 500 families belonging to Dalit community. People visit the park in the morning and evening. Some local people visited the part on Friday morning and spotted the incident. They informed other residents and informed police about the matter,” he said.

Singh said that some anti-social elements have vandalized the statue to flare up communal tensions. “The main aim are to disrupt Ambedkar Jayanti celebration on April 14,” he said.

Senior officials from police and district administration immediately reached to the spot to control the situation. “Police team is deployed at the spot to maintain law and order. We have launched an investigation into the matter,” said a police official.

After the incidence Greater Noida police also became active and organized peace keeping meeting at different police station.
