DDMA lifts weekend curfew, odd-even scheme for shops; certain other restrictions eased

New Delhi, January 27: The Delhi Disaster Management Authority on Thursday in its meeting chaired by L-G Anil Baijal decided to remove weekend curfew, odd-even system of opening market and has also eased other certain Covid restrictions in the national capital.

According to DDMA officials, DDMA in its meeting has lifted weekend curfew, odd-even shops opening system of market. However, the night curfew will continue to take place.

Cinema halls, bars and restaurants can also operate at 50 per cent capacity and weddings in the national capital can be held with a maximum of 200 people or at 50 per cent capacity.

Delhi government offices are allowed to function at 50 per cent capacity staff according to DDMA officials.

However, Delhi schools will remain shut and a decision in regards to the opening of schools will be made in the next DDMA meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Lieutenant governor Anil Baijal which was also attended by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the meeting was held virtually.

Last week, all private Offices were given the nod by the Delhi government to function with up to 50 per cent attendance.

However, the DDMA advised to stagger office timing, presence and quantum of staff.

Delhi reported 7,498 new COVID-19 cases during the last 24 hours. As per the bulletin provided by the Health Department, the positivity rate for the day has gone to 10.59 per cent. Moreover, the capital reported 29 fatalities in the last 24 hours There are currently 38,315 active COVID-19 cases in Delhi.
