Delhi govt plans to transform Delhi into a city of world-class parks; govt to fund 5,000 parks

March 24, New Delhi: On Wednesday, the Delhi Government announced that it’ll be funding the development of 5,000 parks in the national capital & in collaboration with 450 residents’ welfare association 1,500 parks are being revamped under ‘Mukhyamantri Park Saundaryakaran Yojana.’

As per TOI reports, in a statement by the Delhi government, it’s been said that it plans to transform Delhi into a city of world-class parks and will develop world-class facilities in an area of around 3,000 acres across 17 forests of the city.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday while reviewing the status of parks of Delhi directed the concerned officials to submit a detailed project report within 15 days.

As per reports, the Delhi government in a statement has informed that The newly developed park will have public conveniences including adequate lighting, CCTVs, toilets, a dedicated play area for toddlers, children and adolescents with child-friendly play equipment, open-air gyms, gazebos covered seating areas and more.

It will also have walking, jogging and cycling tracks and open-air gyms. Water bodies, composting, rainwater harvesting, irrigation supply, power backup, native trees, flowers and shrubs can also be spotted at these parks.

As part of the Mukhyamantri Park Saundaryakaran Yojna, 1,500 parks are being transformed in collaboration with 450 Resident Welfare Association (RWAs) under a unique community parks initiative.
