Delhi HC slams DoE for delay in Nursery Admission Guidelines

The Delhi high court slammed the Delhi government for issuing guidelines right before the commencement of the admission process  for  creating chaos and confusion  in the nursery admission process. Justice Manmohan stated issuing fresh notifications just before the admission season starts makes the citizen jittery and create chaos and confusion for parents who didn’t get enough time to plan admission process of their kids.

Justice Manmohan also remarked that has become very difficult to deal with the government. The government has come up with at least three notifications in the month of January. Association of private unaided schools filed a new petition January 7 notification on nursery admission stating that it has become very difficult to deal with the government

Justice Manmohan also stated what were you (government) doing the whole year. The notification should have come at least six months or a year in advance so that parents gets to plan in advance. Don’t take anyone by surprise. As per the January 7 notification, the government stated that the private schools cannot refuse admission to the residents of the locality” and fill 75% of the capacity. According to the guidelines issued  the remaining 25% seats are mandatorily reserved for children whose parents’ annual income is less than Rs 1 lakh a year.

The Delhi government had issued an order on January 7th that Nurseries in the national capital according to which they could not refuse admission to the residents of the locality and would fill 75% of the capacity only. The rest will be given for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category.
