Delhi LG Inaugurates Forensic Facility for Sexual Assault, POSCO in Rohini

New Delhi, 4 September 2022: Delhi LG VK Saxena has recently inaugurated a DNA examination facility for POSCO cases and sexual assault in Rohini’s Forensic Science Laboratory.

This facility will maintain available for faster analysis of the samples in about 24 hours rather than 72 hours. It has also been found that about 24 samples can be analyzed at a time in the facility.

Samples are sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory in cases involving murder, sexual assault, POCSO, disasters, and unidentified bodies for biological and serological analysis as well as DNA typing.

In addition to LG’s approval for 93 more workers, the facility now has an automated DNA extraction machine and a differential wash extraction system.

The LG stated, “since police officers were collecting the majority of the samples, sufficient training should be given to staff. In order to combat the increased number of POCSO incidents and sexual assaults, the social and behavioral mindset must change, and proactive and extra vigilance policing must be ensured.”
