The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, which had been asking for a fare hike since 2009, was finally granted its wish last week.
But there are concerns that higher fares could lead to a fall in Metro ridership, which has only seen ups till now with 2.8 million passengers taking it daily.
Following the fare hike concern, Janwadi Mahila Samiti, staged a protest at Jantar Mantra and alleged that, this is a callous attitude of union government towards Aam Aadmi.
They also alleged that, in the coming October, Metro fares will again increase, which would hardly hit common man.
They concluded by saying that, if DMRC does not decrease fares, we will continue our struggle.
