Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Pandey has been appointed the Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (CCPD) on 28th January, 2016. The Department of Personnel & Training, vide their dated 22.01.2016 informed the approval of appointmentof Dr. Kamlesh Kumar Pandey to the post of CCPD for a period of three years.

Dr. Pandey is a Science Graduate from University of Allahabad and Medical Graduate from Agra University in 1990. He has been associated with Sewa Bharti,an NGO working in Slums as District, Divisional & Eastern U.P. Incharge covering 35 Districts, Akhil Bhartiya Dristihin Kalyan Sangh, an NGO working for visually challenged persons as All India Joint organization Secretary. Before joining the post of CCPD, Dr. Pandey was associated with Saksham, an all India organization working in the field of disability as All India Organizing Secretary.

The Chief Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (CCPD) is appointed by the Central Government from persons having special knowledge or practical experience in matters relating to rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities. The CCPD also coordinates the work of the State Governments’ Commissioners to monitor the utilization of funds disbursed by the Central Government; to take steps to safeguard the rights and facilities made available to persons with disabilities; and to submit reports to the Central Government on the implementation of the Persons with Disabilities Act, 1995.
