Driving & learners license tests suspended in Delhi amid COVID spike

New Delhi, January 6: The Delhi transport department has suspended all appointments for driving license & learners license test at all RTOs from today because of the COVID-19 surge in Delhi.
Transport and environment minister Kailash Gehlot on Wednesday tweeted, “Considering rising COVID cases and recent DDMA guidelines, all appointments for DL & LL tests (fresh & existing) at all RTOs will be suspended from tomorrow (6.1.22). Details for rescheduled dates will be sent to all applicants via SMS. We will extend validity of existing LLs.”
“All faceless services will continue at all zonal offices while ensuring Covid-appropriate behaviour like sanitisation, social distancing, wearing masks, etc according to DDMA guidelines,” stated the order. The fitness tests for commercial vehicles, however, would continue while ensuring strict Covid-appropriate behaviour.
Delhi reported 10,665 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. There are 23,307 active cases in the national capital as of now.
GRAP Yellow Alert (Level 1) has been in place in the city along with the night curfew and weekend curfew amid the rising COVID-19 Cases.
