Drug Controller grants restricted use permission to Covid-19 vaccines of Serum Institute, Bharat Biotech

In a significant step forward towards India’s indigenous Covid-19 vaccination program, Drugs Controller General of India has granted emergency use permission to the two vaccines developed in the country.

Addressing a media briefing today, DCGI said, "Vaccines of Serum Institue of India and Bharat Biotech are granted permission for restricted use in emergency situation".

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also lauded the move and tweeted, "A decisive turning point to strengthen a spirited fight! DCGI granting approval to vaccines of Serum Institue of India and Bharat Biotech accelerates the road to healthier and COVID-free nation. Congratulations India. Congratulations to our hardworking scientists and innovators."
