DU and Z-Com launches joint project to upgrade Wi-Fi devices at low cost in India!

New Delhi: Aimed to provide better and low-cost Wi-Fi devices for India, Institute of Information and Communication, University of Delhi in an association with Taiwan-based Company Z-com tied up hands to design, manufacture and manufacture Wi-Fi devices.

Taiwan ambassador to India, Chung Kwang Tien launched their joint project and two products in Delhi today. They tied up hands under the banner of Make in India initiatives to design, development and manufacture of Carrier Grade Wi-Fi devices for India.At present the project will unveil two of its products including outdoor access points and indoor access points for Wi-Fi.

Both the indoor and outdoor Wi-Fi access points launched at the event are programmed and processed with software that is being handled and managed by the research and development cell of Delhi University.
This is the one-of-its-kind collaborative project between industry and academia where in the aim is also to promote ‘Make in lndia’ initiative and develop lndia as a manufacturing hub of the entire worldwide.

To ensure easy accessibility of products all through the nation, Z-Com has teamed up with local manufacturing giants, Cloudatix and Frontline. Speaking to the Ten News, Taiwan ambassador to India, Chung Kwang Tien said, “India has software power and Taiwan has hardware. If both powers united then it will not only benefit the people but also eradicate the digital illiteracy.”

Later, MD of the Z-COM, India, Rajesh Kapoor said, “Indian Wi-Fi hotspot market is segmented based on offerings end user and industry vertical. Based on offerings, it is divided into component, software, and services. As per component, the market is classified into wireless hotspot gateways, wireless hotspot controllers, and mobile hotspot devices.” He added that, “As per services, the market is categorised into professional service, installation and integration services, consulting services, and managed services. Based on end users, the market is segmented into communication service provider & network operators, enterprises and government. Based on industry vertical, the global Wi-Fi hotspot market is segmented across telecom and IT, financial services, education, healthcare, hospitality, transportation, retail, and others.

The collaborative project with IIC -University of Delhi is a strategic alliance to not only to make the current range of Wi-Fi components software and services or make in India but also include the joint research and development of next generation products and solutions.
