Enchanting Flute Recital Mesmerizes Audience at India International Centre

NEW DELHI News (21 November 2025): A spellbinding evening of Hindustani classical music unfolded at the prestigious C.D. Deshmukh Auditorium, India International Centre (IIC), where renowned flutist Saurabh Prasad Banaudha presented a captivating flute recital. The event drew classical music enthusiasts from across the capital, who were treated to a soulful and immersive musical experience.
The recital, held on Thursday evening, featured Banaudha—an eminent flutist and music composer from the illustrious Varanasi Gharana—joined on stage by his son and disciple Sanskar Prasad Banaudha, who performed alongside him on the flute. The rhythmic accompaniment was provided by noted tabla artist Daksh Makwana, adding dynamic resonance to the presentation.
A Legacy of Musical Excellence
Saurabh Prasad Banaudha represents a distinguished musical lineage. He is the son and disciple of the celebrated flute virtuoso Late Pt. Niranjan Prasad, and also received invaluable training from his grandfather, the legendary shehnai and flute exponent Late Pt. Bholanath Prasanna. Upholding this revered heritage, he continues to promote and preserve the traditional Banaras style of Indian classical music.
He is an empanelled artist of the Ministry of Culture and a graded artist with Prasar Bharati, and he leads the cultural organization Niranjan Dhara, dedicated to nurturing young classical musicians and expanding access to Indian classical art forms.

Musical Presentation
The performance commenced with a serene and expressive rendition of Raag Madhuvanti, developed through Vilambit Ektaal, allowing an expansive melodic exploration. This was followed by a Drut Teentaal composition, marked by brisk improvisations and effortless coordination between flute and tabla. The recital concluded with a lively Banarasi Dhun, embodying the playful charm and melodic sweetness associated with the Banaras gharana.
The concert was celebrated for its fine artistry, emotional depth and smooth interplay between the artists. The audience remained deeply engrossed throughout the recital and responded with enthusiastic applause and admiration. Listeners described the performance as “uplifting” and “emotionally resonant,” appreciating the rare combination of technical mastery and purity of expression.
