EPCH marks presence in Spring Fair International, Birmingham, United Kingdom

New Delhi – 06th February’2023 – The EPCH India Pavilion in Spring Fair International, 2023 got underway at NEC, Birmingham, United Kingdom in the presence of Dr. Shashank Vikram, Consul General, Consulate General of India, Birmingham, U.K. and member exhibitors on 5th Feb, 23. The fair will be held from 05th – 08th February’ 2023. India has a great opportunity to display its unparalleled diversity, rich culture, and long tradition of arts and crafts on a large stage like Spring Fair International, Birmingham, United Kingdom. The Council has organized the member participation of 15 member exporters from different parts of the Country, informed Rakesh Kumar, Director General – EPCH.

Dr. Shashank Vikram, Consul General, Consulate General of India, Birmingham, U.K. while inaugurating appreciated the continuous efforts of the Council for bringing Indian Handicrafts to the world markets and promotion of handicrafts exports from the country. CGI also interacted with member participants and assured all support in future business promotions.

Raj Kumar Malhotra, Chairman – EPCH said Council regularly exhibits at Spring Fair International in Birmingham, UK, which provides insight into the U.K. market’s versatility. In this edition, 15 member exporters of EPCH are participating under EPCH India Pavilion. Spring International Fair is a B2B fair spread over in 32000 sq. mtrs area and widely visited by approx. 35000 visitors and volume buyers from UK and from across the globe. The visitors to EPCH India Pavilion appreciated the handicraft skill of India.

R. K. Verma, Executive Director –EPCH said United Kingdom being one of the major markets in the world has a vast potential for handicraft and gifts items. India’s participation in Spring edition will add to the fair’s vibrancy and diversity, as well as familiarise global manufacturers, retailers, and brands with the robust entrepreneurship in the Indian textiles, home furnishing, and consumer products industries, opening up opportunities for sourcing from India.

EPCH is a nodal agency for promoting exports of handicrafts from the Country to various destinations of the world and projecting India’s image abroad as a reliable supplier of high quality handicrafts goods & services. The Handicrafts exports during the year 2021-22 was Rs. 33253.00 Crores (US $ 4459.76 Million) registering a growth of 29.49% in rupee term & 28.90% in dollar terms over previous year. The exports of handicrafts items to United Kingdom during the year 2021-22 is Rs. 2138.86 Crores (US $ 286.86 Million) registering a growth of 30.08% in rupee term and 29.49% in dollar term over previous year informed by  Rakesh Kumar, Director General – EPCH.
