New Delhi, June 13, 2025: The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH) has extended its deepest condolences following the devastating crash of Air India Flight AI171 in Ahmedabad on June 12, which claimed the lives of over 242 passengers and crew. The tragedy has sent shockwaves across the country, with EPCH expressing solidarity with the grieving families.
Among the deceased was Vijay Rupani, former Chief Minister of Gujarat, whose passing has been described as a monumental loss to the nation.
Dr. Neeraj Khanna, Chairman of EPCH, expressed sorrow on behalf of the handicrafts industry, stating, “We are deeply saddened by this national tragedy. On behalf of EPCH, I extend our sincerest condolences to all those who have lost their loved ones. Our thoughts and prayers are with the grieving families. May the departed souls rest in peace and may their families find strength during this difficult time.”
Echoing the sentiment, Dr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General in the role of Chief Mentor – EPCH and Chairman of India Expo Mart Ltd (IEML), remarked, “The Air India tragedy is a moment of deep national sorrow. I extend my heartfelt condolences to all the families affected. May the departed rest in peace and may the bereaved find solace and strength in this hour of grief.”
In a joint statement, R. K. Verma, Executive Director of EPCH, and Rajesh Rawat, Additional Executive Director, added, “We at EPCH join the nation in mourning. Our hearts go out to the grieving families affected by this unimaginable loss. We stand in solidarity with them and extend our heartfelt prayers that they may find courage and solace in this dark hour.”
