Everybody wants to be an influencer these days : Abhishek Banerjee on short film Vakeel Babu
Amazon miniTV – Amazon’s free video streaming service, recently premiered a short film titled – Vakeel Babu, as part of its first of its kind film extravaganza – the Mini Movie Festival. The short film has been receiving praise from viewers across the globe for its engaging narrative and impactful performances. Abhishek Banerjee, who plays the role of Shiraz Hassan in this short film, recently opened up on how his character resonates with audiences, while maintaining a unique newness about itself.
“The influencer bit in the film is the most beautiful part of Vakeel Babu. Everybody wants to be an influencer these days, everyone wants followers and likes, and this Vakeel also needs it. In today’s time, if you are doing fine on Instagram, it means you are doing well in life as well. In this movie, Shiraz is trying to tell a similar story. His journey started from advocacy and moved to a chatroom on some social media platform. His performance on social media is better as he has to take less efforts as a lawyer. So, his journey, while beginning as an influencer’s, ends with him actually realizing what it means to be a lawyer.” said Abhishek Banerjee.
Created by Civic Studios and directed by Sumit Purohit, Vakeel Babu revolves around a young lawyer who chases success through a digital video channel, while pursuing his career in law. But matters take a mysterious turn when he is approached by an anonymous female victim of abuse. Amidst this chaos, he also tries to rediscover his purpose in the justice system. The short film is streaming for free on Amazon miniTV within the Amazon Shopping App and on Fire TV, as a part of the Mini Movie Festival.
