New Delhi: BJP’s Mumbai North MP Gopal Shetty on Thursday gave an exclusive Interview to Ten News . He shared his views on the most trending topics concerning nation and politics. From Triple Talaq to Ram Mandir issue he put forward his own views and also.spoke about BJP’s winning chances in upcoming Loksabha elections.
Talking about his biggest achievements as an Member of Parliament, he said,
“As a member of parliament in the beginning we when we resolve the issue of COD. The defense surrounding people were not getting permission to construct their old houses also, so we fought for that inside the Parliament outside the Parliament and we succeeded because of Manohar Parrikar ji. Particularly one more thing i would like to add that in my Electoral Constituency Malad in Malwani area, which is a thickly Muslim, Catholic people area.”
He further said, “From last 35 years playground plot was reserved by the municipal corporation but the plot was belonging to the CPD. They were not handing over the plot to corporation as they were not able to develop it. So i fought for that and i went to streets also. We took Forcefully possession of the plot also by informing the police and to the consulting department. They called us and held a meeting and immediately the secretary of Urban development, Puri ji issued a letter to me as well as NOC and said they will come in January and do bhoomi Poojan. So such projects have been been accomplished.”
Speaking about the Priorities towards his Constituency, he said,
“See i have started my career as Muncipal Councilor. I was a Muncipal Councilor for 15 years then i was MLA for ten years. And now I am completing first five year term of member of parliament, so i have a vast experience in this field. I have seen corporations, I have seen assembly and also Parliament so people come to me with not only issues related to member of parliament but whatever they feel like. They come to me for water problem, sanitary problems, roads development, playgrounds development and sometimes with their personal problems also. So people are coming with whatever problem and I try to solve every one of them.”
When asked about what are the legislative reforms he would like to recommend in greater public good, BJP MP Said,
“One which is pending and I have proposed in the floor of the house is a private member bill. If a boy is marrying his age is 21 and for girls the age is 18. With the consultation of parents, if the girl is marrying it is okay to be 18. And if the girl is marrying without the consent of her parents the age should be 21 that I have proposed it.”
Taking about his hundred per cent attendance record in Lok Sabha functioning, he said,
” Its my hobby when i was in corporation for 15 years, i was absent for only two days and in assembly also my attendance was above 99%, in the committee meetings also i have attended every meeting barring one or two. So i feel happy and its a responsibility so we should fulfill it.”
Giving his views on Triple Talaq Bill, he said,
“I feel happy because we have passed a good bill today. Which is going to protect women rights and at the same time. I’m surprised the way opposition were putting their subjects on the floor of the house. I don’t see any problems in this bill. Triple Talaq Bill is for the rights of women and about justice. This bill is not against any community, religion or belief,i t’s about the respect of women. Shameful that in a secular country like India someone can say triple talaq & marriage ends.”
Talking about the long-standing Ayodhya issue, Gopal Shetty said,
“It’s a long standing issue because of our judicial system i would say. long pending it is and it was to be resolved in 2018 only but now court has extended the date upto January.”
Giving message to the youth of the community he said,
“There is good opportunity for the youth of the country. You have to be just honest like i
I have been working from day-1. There are huge opportunities for youth in coming days in our country. They should work hard.”
At last when asked about BJP chances in 2019 Elections, he said,
“See as member of BJP i always think my party should come again to the power anyone will think like that. But the way my government and Modi ji have worked for now near about 5 years term. The people of our country are happy, satisfied. This government should continue, the people are also expecting the same.”
