Expert panel bats for restricted emergency use permission for Covaxin in India
Following different phases of trials and ongoing dry run of vaccination in different states, an Expert panel formed by the government has spoken in favour of granting necessary permissions for the emergency use of Covaxin.
Quoted government sources, a news agency said, " The government has recommended granting permission for restricted emergency use authorisation for Bharat Biotech’s indigenously developed COVID-19 vaccine — (Covaxin)."
Meanwhile, lauding Indian efforts for the development of a Covid-19 vaccine, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar had highlighted the number of ongoing simultaneous efforts.
"India is perhaps the only country where four vaccines are getting ready. Serum’s Covishield was yesterday approved for emergency use," said Javadekar.
And even as the final nod to the medicine remains awaited, dry runa for Covid-19 vaccine rollout is being conducted in the country.
"Today, the dry run was conducted at three centres in Bhopal. Total 75 people were administered dummy vaccines at these centres," said Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
