Atali mahapanchayat says no more violence

The turmoil in riot-hit Atali village of Faridabad district continued on Friday after a mahapanchayat failed to arrive at any decisive conclusion, as no one from the minority community was present due to security threat.

However, the mahapanchayat agreed to constitute a committee comprising 40 villagers that will meet representatives of the minority community in a day or two and assure them that no further communal violence would take place.

“We sent messages to the minority community as well as to senior officials of police and civil administration to participate in the mahapanchayat and resolve the issue but no one from the minorities reached apart from local MLA Tek Chand Sharma and present SHO of Ballabhgarh police station Prit Pal Singh. Hence no concrete solution emerged,” said a villager
