Farmers, Dalits and Ex-Army men call for historic Bharat Bandh on August 9

New Delhi: All lndia Ambedkar Mahasabha (AIAM), All lndia Kisan Sabha (AIKS) and All India Ex-Servicemen Movement (AISM) has called for Bharat Bandh on August 9, 2018 on the lines of April 2, 2018 Bharat Bandh.

All three organisations, which have been fighting for their rights alone, have now joined hands to fight for each other rights, demanding justice and seeking redressal of their grievances.

After the Supreme Court’s ruling to strike down the sections of SC/ST Atrocities Act ‘immediate arrest of the accused under the atrocities act’ the Dalit leaders called for Bharat Bandh on April 2, 2018.
During the Bandh protest, more than 10 people (all dalits) have been killed and thousands booked under several sections of the society.

To take up their fight to the next level, all three organization came on one platform and called for Bharat Bandh on August 9, 2018. It is worth mentioning, All India Kisan Sangharsh Coordination Committee (AIKSCC) a body of around 200 farmers’ association also call for ‘Jail Bharo Andolan’ on August 9.

We have come together to put forward our demands with the hope that this is a Government that is responsible to the People. We expect a responsible government to answer questions put forward by the people and fulfill their demands.

All three organizations have agreed with their three demands each to put before the government and president.
Making announcement, chief of All lndia Ambedkar Mahasabha Ashok Bharti said, “We all come together to make our voices more loudly. Our demands are different but cause is same. Ex-Army men, farmers and Dalits, three major force of the country have called for Bharat Bandh on August 9.”

Replying to the question of April 2, Bharat Bandh incident where more than 10 people have been killed said, “We are ready to die for our rights. Though, we have planned a peaceful bandh and request everyone to observe it peacefully.

Later, chief of AISM, who have been fighting for OROP Major General Satbir Singh said, “First time three major communities have come together and called for Bandh. On bandh, we invite political parties and political leaders to engage with us with specific reference to our demands above.”
