Gadkari Inaugurates bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2024, Showcasing Future-Ready Construction Technologies

Greater Noida, December 11, 2024: In a remarkable showcase of industry collaboration and technological progress, bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2024, India’s leading construction, mining, and infrastructure trade fair, opened today at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida. The event brought together prominent industry leaders, policymakers, and global delegates, highlighting India’s ambitious infrastructure development.
Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, inaugurated the event, sharing his vision for India’s ambitious infrastructure development. He highlighted ongoing projects worth ₹70 lakh crore, annual contracts worth ₹5 lakh crore, and the rapid development of expressways and highways. He emphasized the adoption of sustainable fuels like ethanol, biodiesel, LNG, hydrogen, and methanol to reduce pollution and achieve carbon neutrality by 2070.
Gadkari also stressed India’s leadership in the construction equipment industry, projecting growth from 1.35 lakh units to 2.5 lakh units annually by 2030, supported by exports of ₹6,700 crore and investments of ₹32,000 crore. He called for increased R&D, adoption of alternative fuels, and exploration of export opportunities to bolster global competitiveness.
He highlighted transformative projects such as the Mumbai-Delhi Expressway and Kashmir-Kanyakumari Highway, aimed at reducing travel time and logistics costs while enhancing efficiency. By 2025, the logistics cost is targeted to drop from 14-16% to 9%, making India globally competitive.
Gadkari concluded with a call for innovation, urging businesses to focus on proven technology, economic viability, raw material availability, and marketability. “Let’s work together to build a stronger, cleaner, and globally competitive India,” he said.
The inaugural ceremony included a ribbon-cutting event and an exclusive VIP tour of the exhibition, providing a firsthand look at next-generation construction equipment, advanced machinery, and sustainable technologies shaping the future of the industry.
Prominent figures attending the event included Narender Kumar Kardam from the Border Roads Organisation, Manoj Bapna from the Military Engineering Service, Dimitrov Krishnan of Volvo CE India, Bhupinder Singh from Messe Muenchen India, Vishwanathan from the Builders Association of India, Vinayak Pai of TATA Projects Ltd., Arvind Garg of Larsen & Toubro, and Arnold Dix from the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association.
With over 1,000 exhibitors, 20,000 products, and live machinery demonstrations, bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2024 offers an immersive platform showcasing cutting-edge innovation, fostering business opportunities, and setting new industry benchmarks.
The exhibition is open from December 11 to 14, 2024, at the India Expo Centre, Greater Noida.
