Galgotias College hosts FDP on Latest Innovations and Concepts for Sustainable Development

Galgotias College of Engineering and Technology, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, organized a one-week Faculty Development Program from July 15 to July 22, 2024. The program focused on “Latest Innovations and concepts for Sustainable Development.” The program was jointly organized by the departments of Civil Engineering and Applied Sciences and sponsored by Dr. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

The event saw sixty registrations and featured twelve keynote speakers with an objective of raising awareness about modern and innovative measures for sustainable development and inspire educators to focus on new methods for sustainable development. Experts from various sectors of academia and industry participated in the program. Topics included quantum computing, ancient science, intellectual property rights, satellite communication, energy, the construction industry, and urban discomfort.

The program was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Rakesh Kumar Khandal, Chancellor, SDGI Global University, Ghaziabad, and former Vice Chancellor of UPTU, Lucknow. In his speech, he acknowledged the necessity of sustainable development by responsibly using available resources and maintaining ecological balance.

During the five days, twelve keynote speakers from academia and industry discussed their cutting-edge research programs and practical applications for research, business, society, and education. Dr. Harish Sahu, Scientist-E, DRDO, Delhi, discussed the significance of quantum computing for sustainable development. Dr. (Professor) Sanjay Kumar Sharma, Gautam Budh University, focused on achieving sustainability in relation to ancient science and modern development. Dr. Shailendra S. Gaur, Professor, CCS University, discussed how intellectual property rights (IPR) can play a crucial role in discovering new concepts for sustainability. Mr. Deepak Kumar Singh, GM, Satcom Monitoring Centre, Telecom Department, Ministry of Communication, Delhi, emphasized the latest technology and developments in satellite communication, which could be a milestone for innovations in sustainable development. Dr. Ashwini Kumar Tiwari, JNU, Delhi, shared information on food and consumption. Dr. Anil Kumar, Associate Professor, DTU, discussed CO2 mitigation potential through concentrated solar energy in the cement industry. Colonel (Dr.) Prof. Pawan Pandey, IIT Delhi, provided insights into the Indian construction industry. Mr. Rajneesh Sarin, Program Director, CSE, New Delhi, shared his perspective on urban discomfort, which is largely caused by heat and flood climate change scenarios. Dr. Taukeer Ahmed, Professor, Jamia Millia Islamia, discussed catalysts for sustainable green energy, and Dr. Diksha Dave, IGNOU, highlighted eco-innovation for sustainability.

Dr. Bipin Kumar Srivastava, DSW, urged the audience to focus on new methods for sustainable development.

Speaking about the program’s immense success, Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, stated that the event provided participants with an opportunity to deepen their understanding of sustainable development and learn about new ideas and concepts in this field. The program could inspire participants to initiate their own research and development efforts towards sustainable development.
