Galgotias University Hosts Expert from MIT for Guest Lecture on Gender-Based Violence
Greater Noida, The Centre for Gender Studies, School of Law at Galgotias University, recently organized a thought-provoking guest lecture by a Senior Researcher from Massachusetts (MIT) USA on the dynamic aspects of Gender-Based Violence: Mapping the (Im)possibilities of Democratic Responses in India and Latin America.” The lecture addressed critical issues surrounding gender-based violence, highlighting the complexities and challenges in tackling such violence in both regions, while aiming to foster meaningful dialogue and action in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the University.
The event featured insightful lectures, engaging discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions with distinguished experts and participants. The speaker Julio Diaz Calderon delved deeply into the intricate binaries of gender-based violence in India and Latin America, drawing parallels between the two regions and analyzing the democratic responses to these challenges. Through these discussions, the discussion sought to foster collaborative efforts and knowledge exchange, with a specific focus on the dynamic aspects of democracy, polyarchy, and different perspectives of democracy and violence.
The event was organized under the visionary leadership of Aradhana Galgotia, Director Operations, and Prof. K.M.
