Galgotias University Hosts Inauguration of Sub-Junior National Boxing Championship; Olympian Vijender Singh Motivates Young Boxers
Greater Noida, August 7, 2025: Galgotias University once again demonstrated its commitment to sports by hosting the grand inauguration of the 4th Sub-Junior Boys and Girls National Boxing Championship 2025. The championship is being held from August 7 to August 13, 2025.
On this occasion, Olympian, professional boxer, Padma Shri and Arjuna Awardee Mr. Vijender Singh graced the event as the Chief Guest. Addressing the young athletes, he said it was a moment of pride for Indian boxing. “Among the participants seated here today, someone will surely win an Olympic medal for India in the future,” he said, motivating the youth.
Sharing his life experiences, Vijender Singh emphasized that ups and downs are a part of life, but respect for coaches and consistent efforts are the key to success.
He further added, “Victory comes only after defeat. When I gained self-confidence, I won my first sub-junior medal in Germany.” He also highlighted that Galgotias University sponsors athletes and offers scholarships to those who perform exceptionally well.
Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, stated, “Sports not only teach discipline and confidence but also serve as a medium to earn respect for the country. We take pride in inspiring youth to compete at international levels through such events.”
Manoj Kumar, Arjuna Awardee and Commonwealth Gold Medalist, also motivated the students by saying,
“Never give up in life. If I could remain in the Indian team consistently from 1999 to 2021 with dedication and focus, so can you.”
He recited a motivational poem to encourage the youth.
Mr. Ajay Singh, CEO of SpiceJet, thanked Galgotias University for their hospitality and shared that over 750 boxers, including 200 athletes, are participating in this championship. He added that India has made significant progress in international boxing rankings, rising from the 44th to the 4th position in recent years — a testament to the nation’s growing strength in sports.
