Galgotias University Sensitizes Students on Personal Hygiene and Grooming
Greater Noida, October 8, 2024 – Galgotias University, in its unwavering commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and gender equality, organized an exclusive Personality Development Workshop for its female students titled “Be Your Own Boss (BYOB)”. The workshop, held in collaboration with Right Side Story, training partners of Procter & Gamble and Gillette, was initiated by the School of Liberal Education and hosted in the Swami Vivekananda Auditorium on campus.
The event, designed to emphasize the importance of personal hygiene and grooming, was spearheaded by Aprajita Basu, a renowned trainer from Right Side Story. With an engaging and interactive approach, she addressed key topics such as personal safety and menstrual hygiene, dispelling myths, and encouraging open discussions. Students took an active part, raising various questions related to personal grooming, which were attentively addressed by the trainer.
Over 210 students and faculty members participated in the workshop, with 10 students from the School of Liberal Education volunteering to ensure the smooth execution of the event. These volunteers demonstrated strong leadership, teamwork, and project management skills throughout the program. As part of the initiative, hygiene kits, including coupons, razors, and sanitary pads, were distributed to the students, sparking excitement and appreciation among participants.
Aradhana Galgotia, Director of Operations, Galgotias University, emphasized the institution’s dedication to female students’ well-being, stating, “We have installed sanitary vending machines across the campus, ensuring hygiene kits are available 24/7 for our female students’ safety and comfort.”
Adding to this, Dr. Dhruv Galgotia, CEO of Galgotias University, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to providing a secure environment, saying, “Female students are our priority, and we strive to provide them with a safe and nurturing campus. We understand the trust that parents place in us when they send their daughters away from home, and we work tirelessly to uphold that trust.”
Further, Dr. K Mallikharjuna Babu, Vice-Chancellor of Galgotias University, remarked, “Personal hygiene and grooming are vital life skills that contribute to the overall development of our students. We integrate these skills into their education to prepare them for life beyond the campus.”
Echoing these sentiments, Dr. Renu Luthra, Advisor to the Chancellor, added, “Galgotias University is dedicated to achieving gender equality as part of Goal 5 of the SDGs. Sensitizing students on this topic from their college days lays the foundation for a more equitable future, and we will continue to take active steps towards this objective.”
The BYOB Workshop, an initiative of the School of Liberal Education, was orchestrated under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Anuradha Parasar, Dean, School of Liberal Education, and coordinated by Dr. Priyanka Jain, Assistant Professor. Their leadership and commitment ensured the event was a resounding success, drawing attention from both male and female students alike.
This workshop reflects Galgotias University’s continued efforts to foster a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for all its students, further strengthening its commitment to gender equality and the holistic development of its community.
