In a major relief to commuters, the key Mohan Nagar crossing which connects Delhi with Loni and Baghpat has been made signal-free from Thursday, the Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) said.

According to the new plan, there will be a free right turn for those coming from Ghaziabad towards the Hindon air force station and from there, a free left turn to Loni, Rajendra Nagar, Lajpat Nagar and Shalimar Garden.

Commuters from Delhi via Link Road to Ghaziabad, Meerut and Hapur would take a signal-free route towards the air force station and from there, a free right turn via Karhera to Ghaziabad and onward. Commuters from Link Road to Gyani border and adjoining colony would take a signal-free left turn to GT Road and move onward to the adjoining colonies of Rajendra Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Shaheed Nagar and Shalimar Garden.

Commuters from Shahdara, Dilshad Garden, and Rajendra Nagar to Ghaziabad would now have a signal-free left turn from Mohan Nagar to the air force station and would take Karhera route to connect with Mohan Nagar at the Trade Tax crossing and, from there, a right turn towards Vasundhara, Vaishali, Indirapuram, Kaushambhi and Patparganj. Commuters from the Loni side would also take the same route via Karhera and a right turn for Delhi and left for Ghaziabad.

GDA vice chairman Vijay Kumar Yadav, in a press release, said the plan was to be implemented last month, but was finally put in place on Thursday after examining and re-examining the impact.
