GREATER NOIDA News (14/12/2025): The Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, has successfully concluded a Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification Course, marking another significant step in its ongoing efforts to enhance clinical competence, patient safety, and emergency response preparedness among healthcare professionals.
The certification programme was organised in collaboration with the Indian Resuscitation Council Federation (IRCF) and was designed to equip participants with essential life-saving skills required during cardiac and respiratory emergencies. The initiative reinforced GIMS’s focus on capacity building and adherence to globally accepted, evidence-based medical practices.
The course was formally inaugurated by Dr. (Col.) Brij Mohan, Medical Superintendent, GIMS Greater Noida. Addressing the participants, he highlighted the crucial role of timely and scientifically guided resuscitation in saving lives and improving patient outcomes, particularly during critical emergencies where every second counts.

The training programme witnessed active participation from doctors, paramedical personnel and MSc students, underlining a multidisciplinary approach to emergency care education. Such inclusive participation, organisers noted, helps ensure coordinated and effective responses during real-life medical emergencies.
The BCLS sessions were conducted by a team of certified instructors under the academic supervision of Dr. Anupriya. The faculty included Dr. Savita, Dr. Ruchi, Dr. Bhoomika, Dr. Priyanshu, Dr. Pallavi Mehra, Neha Singh and Prasidh Pathak, along with other experienced trainers. The curriculum was delivered strictly in accordance with IRCF guidelines, focusing on updated protocols and the latest advancements in resuscitation science.
During the course, participants received comprehensive training in essential life-saving interventions. Special attention was given to clarifying the difference between Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Compression Only Life Support (COLS), along with step-by-step instruction on the correct sequence of actions during cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Hands-on practical sessions enabled trainees to gain confidence in using Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), while live demonstrations covered the management of choking, cardiac arrest and other life-threatening conditions.

The successful completion of the BCLS Certification Course reflects GIMS Greater Noida’s sustained commitment to maintaining high standards in medical education and clinical training. By strengthening emergency response capabilities and nurturing a skilled healthcare workforce, the institute continues to contribute significantly to patient safety and community health initiatives.
