GREATER NOIDA News (04/12/2025): Greater Noida’s Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) has expanded its diagnostic capabilities with the addition of a cutting-edge Mobile Cancer Screening Unit, donated by India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. The initiative, launched under Yamaha’s CSR program, is aimed at improving early cancer detection—particularly breast and cervical cancer—in underserved regions where such medical facilities are still scarce.
Unveiled on 4 December 2025, the mobile unit is designed to bring preventive healthcare directly to communities, ensuring that individuals showing early symptoms receive timely assessment and intervention. Early diagnosis, hospital officials emphasized, remains one of the most effective ways to significantly improve cancer treatment outcomes.
Equipped with sophisticated medical technology, the unit houses an X-ray system, mammography machine, colposcopy unit, laboratory testing setup, dedicated cancer-clinic couches, a mobile office, and essential consumables required for cervical cancer screening. This makes it a fully functional diagnostic center on wheels capable of reaching remote and high-need populations.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Chief Guest Mr. Atsushi Nagashima, Corporate Director, Yamaha Motor India, who highlighted Yamaha’s long-standing commitment to community welfare through impactful CSR efforts.
In India Yamaha Motor, we believe that good health forms the foundation of strong communities, Nagashima said. This Mobile Cancer Screening Unit is an effort to close the healthcare accessibility gap and empower people with early diagnosis. It reflects our dedication to driving positive change and improving lives.
GIMS Director Dr. Brig. Rakesh Gupta conveyed deep gratitude to Yamaha for the significant contribution, noting that the new facility will greatly strengthen the institute’s outreach programs. GIMS continues to work tirelessly to enhance healthcare delivery, and this initiative will enable us to serve patients more effectively, he added.

The event saw participation from senior Yamaha officials, including Mr. S. Kumar (Vice President, RMC Division), Mr. Amit Kumar (Vice President, Finance), Mr. A.K. Mahajan (Vice President & Plant Head), Mr. Vinay Gupta (GM CSR), Mr. Shyamal Achar, Mr. Kaushal Tiwari, Mr. Jonatthan, among others.
Representatives from GIMS who attended the ceremony included Dr. Saurabh (CMS), Dr. Rambha (Dean), Dr. B.S. Yadav (Faculty/Admin), Dr. Satendra Kumar, Dr. Ritu Sharma, Dr. Anirudh Saxena, Dr. Preeti Verma, Dr. Shikhar Jauhri, along with several faculty members and administrative staff. The Mobile Cancer Screening Unit is expected to begin field operations soon, marking a significant step toward accessible preventive healthcare in the region.
