Go First flight cancellations gets another extension

New Delhi, 05th July 2023: The crisis-hit airline Go First announced that the company’s scheduled flight operations will remain cancelled until July 10 due to operational reasons. The fleet of the cash-strapped carrier has been grounded since May 3.

This comes after firm officials filed for voluntary bankruptcy in early May before the National Firm Law Tribunal (NCLT), blaming a US-based engine manufacturer for failing to meet obligations on time, resulting in the grounding of a portion of its fleet.

According to sources, the grounding of the Go First aircraft pushed up rates, particularly on specific routes where the now-defunct airline had a presence. Resolution Professionals (RP) presented a thorough proposal for Go First revival to the Directorate of General Civil Aviation (DGCA) last week.

Go First Resolution Professionals assured the DGCA and its senior officials in Delhi after a nearly two-and-a-half-hour meeting that the company is serious about restarting the operation. ‘Resumption plan proposes to operate GoFirst from maximum airports, flying over 70 routes with approximately 160 daily flights,’ the company added.
