New Delhi, Dec 20, 2022: The issue of India’s digital transformation and global strategic developments took prominence meeting on Tuesday during the course of a meeting between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai.
The Google CEO is visiting lndia after a gap of around three-and-a-half years. On Monday, he met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Droupadi Murmu and telecom and IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
On Monday, Pichai had stated that Google was building voice and text search for over 100 Indian languages and will dedicate USD 75 million to support women-led startups in the country.
“Great to meet CEO, @Google and Alphabet, @sundarpichai today afternoon. Discussed India’s digital transformation and global strategic developments,” Jaishankar said in a tweet.
Pichai further expressed at the Google for India 2022 event and noted that the pace of technological change in the country has been extraordinary and Google is lending its support to small businesses and startups, investing in cybersecurity, providing education and skills training, and applying AI in sectors like agriculture and healthcare.
The Indian-born Google chief also heaped praises on PM Modi for the government’s Digital India vision and relayed his enthusiasm over India’s upcoming G20 presidency.
“Prime Minister Modi’s Digital India vision has helped to accelerate the progress we’re seeing across India, and I’m excited for India to share its experience with the world as it takes over the G20 presidency in 2023,” Pichai said.
