Head post offices to double as Passport Seva Kendra to serve citizens of Noida-Greater Noida

27/11/2018, NOIDA: Noida residents now no longer have to go to Ghaziabad for a passport.
Ministry of external affairs has approved the proposal of setting up passport services from head post offices in Noida under the Union government’s scheme of utilizing all head post offices in the country as post office passport seva kendra (POPSK).
Union minister and local MP Mahesh Sharma said that “I have got the approval of ministry of external affairs to set up head post offices as passport office in Noida and Greater Noida”.
He also said that “He is in talks with Noida and Greater Noida authorities to provide space for PSKs in post offices in both the cities”.
“I aim to have the facility by December end but it will take some time to get necessary clearances”, he added.
Main post office of sector 19 Noida is being looked at for the POPSK facility.
BN Singh Gautam Budh Nagar magistrate said that “A passport office for Noida will be most beneficial, but I haven’t got any written order. However, I will definitely look into facilitating its setting up once I receive the order”.
Noida authority’s OSD Rajesh Kumar Singh said that “we will provide all necessary assistance for setting up POPSK in Noida as per the directive of government”.
Currently, Noida and Greater Noida people have to go to Ghaziabad passport office which serves as the only center for passport related services.
