Bihar, 26th June 2023: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) suspended four project personnel a day after a piece of an under-construction bridge fell near Ghori in Bihar’s Kishanganj district. When completed, the under-construction Mechi River bridge would connect Kishanganj with Katihar.

“The NHAI has suspended four officials involved in the bridge’s construction.” The project is worth Rs 1500 crore, according to NHAI Regional Manager Awadesh Kumar.

Another NHAI official stated that an expert team had been created and would visit the site for a thorough assessment.

The bridge, NG-327E, was not yet operational when the superstructure was completed in May.

According to the state administration, the bridge was part of a central government initiative.

On June 4, another under-construction bridge that connected the Khagaria district with Bhagalpur collapsed.
